The Kamo Club Fishing Section was started around 1974. Back then, a lot of members fished from the rocks, either walking in or getting dropped off by boat. They also did many trips away to various places: Bay of Islands, Houhora, Whangaroa, Rangiputa and others.
Our Section typically has around 70-80 members annually, with probably a core of 30 that participate regularly. We hold fishing points days every three weekends approximately with weigh-ins held at the fishing shed at the top of the car park.
Away trips are held three times a year, with us travelling to Rangiputa on the Karikari peninsula for more than 20 years.
The Section has run (on behalf of the Kamo Club) the annual Kamo Club Family Fun Fishing Day for 28 years, which is open to the general public to enter. We have Mens, Ladies, and Junior annual prizes. Juniors do not have to be Kamo Club members but must be children or grandchildren of Fishing Section members.
Annual subs are currently $10, with $5 for juniors. Our monthly meetings are held at the Club at 6:45 pm on the first Monday of each month, except January.
