Travelat Kamo Club

All aboard for adventure!

The Travel Section meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:45pm in the Board Room. Throughout the year we have 5–6 day trips, and once a year we have an overnight (or longer) trip. At our January meeting each year we set our trips for the rest of the year, this is then displayed on our Notice Board.

Previous day trips have seen us visit:

  • Mangawhai, where we visited the local Markets, Bennetts Chocolate shop and then lunch at Te Whai Bay winery.
  • Ngawha, hot springs followed by a stop at the Old Parakao Store Café.
  • Kerikeri, where we visited the local Markets, Makana Chocolate Factory and Marsden Estate winery.
  • Bay of Islands, where we went on fishing charters and those that didn’t want to fish, shopped!

Previous overnight trips have seen us stay at:

  • Wellington, we travelled via train, attended Te Papa, rode the cable car and of course we were wowed at the Weta Workshops.
  • Northland, from Dargaville, Opononi, Rawene, Kaitaia, Cape Reinga, Mangonui, Kerikeri and back to base.
  • Rarotonga, 7 nights staying at the Edgewater Resort. Sharing experiences and also allowing us to explore at our leisure, or sip cocktails by the pool.

On occasion we invite those outside the Travel Section to join us on some of our excursions, so keep an eye out for these.
